Matte Black Shoulder Cover for Humanoid Robot
1. Project Overview
This component serves as the exterior shoulder cover for humanoid robots, matched with internal mounting brackets. Designed with smooth continuous curved surfaces, it features an elongated slot for wiring harness routing. It protects internal servo actuators and delivers aesthetic appearance.
Silicone vacuum casting is adopted for rapid low-volume production at the prototype stage. Finished parts with matte black coating are supplied for robot testing and exhibition display.
2. Core Technical Challenges
- Large continuous Class-A curved surface; zero tolerance for bubbles, obvious parting lines, dents and uneven surfaces.
- Strict dimensional tolerance to ensure consistent assembly gap between the outer cover and internal bracket.
- High forming precision for the long wiring slot to prevent edge deformation and guarantee smooth cable arrangement.
- Stable coating adhesion for uniform matte finish, free of color difference, particles and orange peel texture.
3. Manufacturing Solution
3.1 Master Model & Silicone Vacuum Casting
High-precision master prototype is fabricated via CNC machining, followed by vacuum silicone mold making. Imported PU resin is cast under vacuum to eliminate internal bubbles and perfectly replicate all curved contours.
3.2 Post-processing
Carefully polish parting lines and trim slot edges to maintain seamless curved surfaces.
3.3 Surface Finishing
Matte black PU coating processed in dust-free workshop. Multi-layer primer and top coating achieve consistent scratch-resistant matte texture.
3.4 Quality Control
Full visual inspection of exterior surfaces; dimensional verification of key assembly features; sampling tests for coating adhesion and wear resistance.
